Yesterday I received a response from a senator's assistant asking me to call to set up an appointment with him. I called this morning, and we will be meeting for breakfast tomorrow at a local restaurant.
I know we won't have much time, so it is important for me to make my points clearly and concisely. I also know that one short meeting may not make any difference at all in the grand scheme of things. But, the simple fact that a state senator (who happens to be on the education committee) will hear how these proposals are affecting a teacher and her students is enough for me right now.
Stay tuned for Part 2 tomorrow.
